10. Costanera Sur Ecological Reserve

Finish the itinerary in the city's biggest green space.

There's no better place to round off the day than at the Costanera Sur Ecological Reserve, a 350-hectare nature reserve that's home to the city's widest biodiversity, with many native species of birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians and vegetation.

What was once a public bathing area is now the biggest open space in the city and an emblem for urban environmental conservation. Its current status is something of a happy accident since at one point there were plans to reclaim land from the river here to create a new administrative centre for the city.
